No fewer than 100 people were reported killed by gunmen suspected to be
Fulani herdsmen yesterday in three villages in Kaura Local Government
Area in the southern part of Kaduna State.
The attackers, reported to have arrived in large numbers and armed with
guns, knives, machetes and other dangerous weapons, invaded Ugwar
Sankwai, Ungwar Gata and Chenshyi villages in the early hours of
yesterday, shooting sporadically and setting houses ablaze.
The attacks followed closely on the heels of similar attacks on several
communities in the neighbouring Katsina State by rampaging gunmen,
which claimed 117 lives, injured 37 and displaced 708 persons.
